Where to get your Irish on

T

he luck of the Irish is about to smile on us all, with St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner. No, I can’t promise your luck will be a gargantuan pot o’ gold type that continues all day, but I’ll bet it’ll be something. Maybe you’ll get the last Guinness four-pack at the liquor store. Perhaps McDonald’s will extend its Shamrock Shake limited-time offer. Let’s face it—sometimes it’s considered luck when your favorite green shirt still fits from last year.

Whatever your level of lucky, everyone’s eyes will be smiling at Cask ‘n Flagon in the Fenway on Monday (March 17), which will be celebrating the Irish with luck-laced food and drink specials for revelers wanting to unleash their inner green. On the culinary side, executive chef Donley Liburd will dish out a traditional Irish dinner of boiled corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, carrots and rutabaga. And in true Irish form, there’s a specialty cocktail, the Irish Twist Stout. Mixed with Harpoon Irish stout, Svedka Vanilla vodka and raspberry purée, this leprechaun libation will be available all month.

There also will be a special guest bagpiper from the Boston Pipers Society playing traditional tunes to get your “Irish jig” on, beginning at 2 p.m. (Hey, it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Why wait till 5?)

Your luck doesn’t run out when the bill comes. The traditional Irish dinner is only $14.99, and the Irish Twist Stout, $6.50.

So whether you’re donning a four-leaf clover in your lapel or a full-on “Kiss Me I’m Irish” T (BTW, I know you’re actually Italian and Scottish), erin go bragh, Boston.

Small Bites

BuzzBar, an alcohol-infused ice cream for adults, has made its first foothold into the Boston area. Made with ice cream and spirits, BuzzBars are now available at the Showcase Cinema de Lux in Foxoboro for $7, in the lobby or at your seat. Try the Drunken Cookie (cookies ‘n cream ice cream with bourbon) or the citrus berry drop (raspberry lemon drop sorbet and lemon vodka).
