H
idden in the increasingly hip but often overlooked neighborhood of Newton Highlands, Marcia & Bea Antiques has been a well-kept secret for the decades since owner Marcia Kohl opened the business to keep her aged mother busy. Polished furniture and hand-embroidered linens from the 19th and 20th centuries show workmanship that you can’t find anymore, and the glass cases are overflowing with sparkling costume jewelry, small picture frames, silverware with intricate scrolling patterns, and other unique gifts. A motley collection of postcards, both used and blank, offers a window to a time when postage was a penny, and people wrote (by hand!) in cursive curlicues.
Newton Highlands hosts an annual celebration called Village Day each June, with food, crafts, games, music, and a 5K road race.
