B
abycakes is, pure and simple (and we mean that literally), cupcake heaven. Hidden on a quaint and quiet street, this bakery dedicates all its fresh ingredients and on-premises baking to the one treat on its menu: cupcakes. A blackboard displays the daily selection, and a refrigerated case showcases the plates of cupcake choices, including a breakfast cupcake made with vanilla bean bread pudding that tastes like French toast. The specialty? The Babycake, modeled after those Hostess cupcakes of your childhood, with chocolate cake, rich chocolate frosting, cream filling, and the trademark Hostess squiggle replaced with the word “babycakes.” Jacobson
Wollaston is named for Captain Richard Wollaston, who couldn’t get along with the Pilgrims in Plymouth so moved to what is now Quincy with about 30 others and promptly was thrown out for having sex with the native women.
