A
twood’s Tavern is a hub for local music. Located within walking distance of both Inman and Kendall squares (and Central, if you’re looking for a workout), the modest-sized, dimly lit room boasts two of the best weekly residencies in town—the Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band, featuring members of Morphine and Jeremy Lyons (Wednesdays, no cover), and the Tim Gearan Band (Fridays, $7 cover). Other nights often showcase some of the finer talent from the Cambridge/Somerville roots music family, sometimes without a cover charge too, and recent bookings have expanded to national talent. If that’s not music to your ears, check out the impressive tap list and the excellent menu of comfort fare served up every night until midnight. Wallace
East Cambridge was a center of candymaking, with nearly 70 confectionary manufacturers there and elsewhere in the city by the 1940s. Read more about Cambridge’s candymaking history here.
