A
little-known offshoot of the celebrated Oleana restaurant, Sofra Bakery and Café fills mornings and afternoons with a Mediterranean wealth of flavor. Its generous menu includes colorful Turkish breakfasts, stuffed flatbreads, a mezze bar, and rolling mounds of pastries like the standout chocolate hazelnut baklava. Oleana’s chefs and owners have filled the bakery with Mediterranean spices and treats to take home. Flower teas, bee pollen and Moroccan almonds are all for sale at Sofra (it’s Arabic for “a picnic on a rug”), alongside pre-packaged soups, salads, and mezze to grab and go.
Sofra is one outgrowth of the famous Oleana restaurant. The other is the 50-acre Siena Farms in Sudbury, owned and farmed by Chris Kurth, husband of James Beard Award-winning Oleana chef and owner Ana Sortun and named for their daughter, which provides organic produce to the restaurant, and to customers who sign up for shares.
