elly’s may get all the press, but those who are really in the know go to Beachmont Roast Beef. This small, sparsely decorated sandwich shop dedicates itself to its craft. One of the cooks has been there since the place was opened more than 30 years ago, and the experience shows in every thinly cut, melts-in-your-mouth slice. If you’re looking for a real feast, try the three-way double beef dinner: a pile of roast beef stacked so high you practically have to unhinge your jaw to eat it, slathered with mayonnaise and barbecue sauce and topped with provolone cheese. Beachmont’s workers claim their counterparts from Kelly’s Roast Beef sometimes come there for dinner.
