S
ure, the widely acclaimed sashimi restaurant Uni, in the basement of the Eliot Hotel celebrates its fame by charging 20 bucks for an appetizer during prime time for its cool dishes modeled on Asian street food, such as Japanese fried chicken with kimchee and ginger and pork-belly steam buns. But if you go off peak, you’ll get the same great food at even better prices. Stop in on Sundays and Mondays for the Sake Bomb Special: a four-course prix-fixe dinner with a shot of sake dropped in a glass of Sapporo. And from 11 p.m. till 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, try Boston’s best ramen, including ramen with barbecued unagi, daikon, scallion, enoki, and nori, topped with a two-hour egg.
The Eliot Hotel, the home of Uni, was originally built to house retired faculty, and named for Harvard President Charles Eliot. The exclusive Harvard Club of Boston is next door.
