S
torytelling sometimes seems like a lost art, what with the advent of social media and texting. But robust and entertaining storytelling lives on through Massmouth, a wandering sort of story slam that brings together speakers and listeners like you to tell stories about anything from lost loves to unexpected adventures. The slams are weekly in various venues that range from bars to college campuses, and there’s a competition that culminates with an annual spring “Big Mouth Off.” And that’s a story we’re glad to tell.
Horatio Alger Jr.’s father, a minister, lived at 16 Pleasant St. in South Natick, where Alger was a frequent resident. The author whose name became synonymous with the American rags-to-riches stories he wrote, Alger died in his sister’s house at 31 Florence St. Horatio Alger’s grave is in Glenwood Cemetery on Glenwood Street.
