ome of the most authentic Brazilian food in town is hiding out at the hole-in-the-wall family restaurant Muqueca, where owners Fatima and Antonio Gomes use only the purest ingredients and recipes from their home state of Espirito Santa in southeast Brazil. The restaurant is named after its most renowned dish, the muqueca—a stew of slowly cooked fish, garlic, cilantro, onions, and chili pepper. In addition to delicious food, Muqueca also serves native Brazilian juices, including gaurena and acai, red and very sweet and known in Brazil as “the magic fruit of the Amazon”. Vitale
Brazilian cuisine reflects the influences of native people, Portuguese, Africans, Italians, Spaniards, Germans, Poles, Syrians, Lebanese, and Japanese.
