nown for her role on Friday Night Lights, Alicia Witt has lit up the big screen, too, from her debut in Dune to parts in Mr. Holland’s Opus, Four Rooms, and other films, and on TV in Cybill and with guest spots on The Sopranos, Law & Order, The Mentalist, and Kingdom. But the redheaded vegan and PETA supporter from Worcester is also a singer, songwriter, and pianist with a powerful voice that fills the small rooms she likes to play, ever since she performed on weekends in a Worcester restaurant when she was 10 to make money for lessons. Here are Alicia Witt’s every night Boston (high)lights:

1

Although I have since become vegan, my favorite Boston memory is going to the old No Name restaurant when I was a little girl, and having twin lobsters with corn on the cob and baked potato. It was always such a big treat. Now I can’t bear the thought of hurting the lobsters, though!

2

I know it’s touristy, but I used to love walking around Quincy Market.

3

I also love wandering through the North End and exploring all the great little Italian restaurants.

4

I’ve played at All Asia in Cambridge, which I thought was a great spot … really chill.

5

I love the Liberty Hotel. It has the most beautiful rooms and the loveliest bar on the lower level for a cozy drink.

I was so excited to get to finally play CafĂ© 939. So many of my musician friends told me it’s the best place to play in Boston, with its baby grand piano.
