astachi is a snack dream world in a neighborhood you might never expect to find it. Comforting yellows set off displays of gourmet nut mixes, homemade chocolate treats, and other healthy morsels, with a friendly staff at the ready to guide you through the wealth of choices. Almost everything is prepared in-house: Owners Souren and Susan Etyemezian hand-roast the nuts in small batches, adding only sea salt for seasoning (they come unsalted, too) and double-sifting them to make sure no broken pieces make their way into the finished mixes. They even bake the chocolate for Fastachi’s nut and dried fruit combinations and chocolate bars. The retail end of what has become a large wholesale business, Fastachi seems better known to connoisseurs of nuts outside of Boston than in. Tuder
