nown primarily as a supply depot for thirsty college students, Blanchard’s Liquors has a surprise for more refined connoisseurs: Every other Tuesday at 7 p.m. from September to December, Blanchard’s offers wine tastings in the basement at which 16 different wines are sampled, sometimes with commentary by representatives of the producing vineyard. Although its stock in trade is selling kegs of Watery Lite to college kids by the truckload, Blanchard’s beer department also manages to baffle them with an unexpectedly good selection of craft beers and microbrews from the United States and abroad.
