I
t may not look like much, in its nondescript, squat building on the corner of an out-of-the-way largely industrial strip near a body shop, but don’t be too quick to judge. The locals know Ferretti’s Market serves up one of Cape Cod’s best and biggest sandwiches: the Ferretti Supreme, with Genoa salami, capicola mortadella, ham, provolone, and pepperoni on ultra-fresh bread with pickles, tomatoes, and Italian dressing. Every sandwich comes with a pickle and Cape Cod potato chips and is big enough for two yet moderately priced. There are also great salads here, served by a large and eclectic cast of characters, a decent wine selection, and a ridiculously well-stocked selection of groceries and sundries (seriously, it’s entertaining just to walk the aisles) for whatever you forgot at home.
The Cape Cod Rail Trail bike path follows the route of the old Cape Cod Central Railroad, which reached here in 1865 after being delayed by the Civil War. Passenger rail service to Cape Cod ended in 1959.
