Record Breaking

A record store where vinyl is still king

W

hen you finally find In Your Ear, in a basement below an ice-cream parlor, everything feels the way a record store ought to. Its hidden-away location (there are also branches in Cambridge and Warren, Rhode Island) leaves employees free to blast a diverse blend of classic rock as loudly as they wish. Two doors down is the Paradise Rock Club, the city’s classic music venue. And this place is so jam-packed with records, posters, old magazines, and CDs that wandering its aisles is actually a challenge. Unlike other music stores, In Your Ear has more vinyl than anything else, outstripping even the impressive CD selection. For newbie record collectors looking for equipment, there are also used turntables and speakers for sale. Enos
