alk from the front to the back of Café Rustica and you’ll be transported from a busy urban streetscape to a back patio with tables in the shade of a tree right out of the Italian countryside. Enjoy Italian sandwiches, coffee, tea, and baked goods there or at the tables out front amid the bustle or underneath the textured tin ceiling inside. Porter Square was once filled with cattle yards that used the railroad tracks you can still see on the Somerville side of the square. A tunnel was built under Massachusetts Avenue to move the cattle from one side to the other without blocking traffic. You can still find it under the Walden Street Bridge.
