Poor and Simple

A cheap but good eatery in Davis Square you've overlooked

ike’s Food and Spirits combines two of life’s greatest pleasures: beer and carbs. Well, three pleasures, if you count the feeling that comes over you when you see the bill. Okay, it doesn’t look like much on the outside, but this place offers loads of decent Italian comfort food like ravioli and spaghetti that may not be particularly easy on your waistline, yet are very easy on your budget. Check out any of the 20 specials on the cheap lunch menu, or grab a pizza with a pitcher for under 20 bucks. The full bar also should put this place on your list for that neighborhood bar crawl, or you could just plant yourself here for a side of great Davis Square people-watching along with your meal. The first canned ravioli was produced by Chef Boyardee, a brand named licensed by Italian chef Ettore Boiardi in 1928. That’s his likeness on the cans.
