ored at the beach? You won’t be when you find the hidden wooden stairs that lead to Fisherman’s Beach. If you’re not into surfing (or watching the surfers)—Fisherman’s has Surfside’s waves without the crowds of tourists—lather on the SPF 30 and enjoy the sight of private jets on the glide path to (and taking off from) Nantucket Memorial Airport. Surfers and airplanes aren’t the only traffic here. Another secret: In the early mornings and late afternoon, driving is allowed, attracting fishermen and fisherwomen to steer their off-road vehicles across the sand and do their thing—and, of course, accounting for the name.
