e sure to set aside an entire day for your first visit to the vast warehouse of books that is the New England Mobile Book Fair. Originally a wholesale business for librarians, and owned for most of its more than 50 years by the same family, it may not look like much, but this 32,000-square-foot independent bookstore holds the largest selection of books in New England, with employees who seem to know the exact location of each of the two million titles. The industrial-sized, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves are a bargain-hunter’s paradise. Everything is at least 20 percent off, every day, with even deeper reductions on New York Times bestsellers and publishers’ remainders. Graves
The building that now houses the New England Mobile Book Fair was once a tennis-racket factory.
