A
ntique store-turned-café/ice cream parlor Sugarbowl Café is a quaint little shop whose legacy evokes some old-fashioned touches including a Boston favorite: Brigham’s ice cream. Owner Joe Baker, a onetime antiques dealer, also has a real soda fountain that serves up ice-cream sodas and lime Rickeys. Brigham’s ice cream was begun in Newton Highlands by Edward Brigham, who made it in the back room of his store and sold it for five cents a cone and 20 cents for a sundae.
