ike Fiore’s voice lingers like an eager Dylan disciple’s take on Pet Sounds. Fiore, the mind behind Faces on Film (which is sometimes just him performing alone), lets his best instrument burn slowly on top of reverb-soaked guitars and a tambourine pulse. There are moments of brutal honesty that come from lines like, “Car in the driveway,/Children are fed./I wish you were home,/You wish I was dead,” and, “We’re handing out miracles/and we're digging up the dead.” But the wall of sound triumphs over Fiore’s heavy heart, creating something that might have come from My Morning Jacket during the At Dawn era.
