icole “Hoopz” Alexander was a basketball star in her own right, playing in leagues in Europe before she became an American celebrity on VH1’s Flavor of Love and I Love Money, in which she beat out 19 other competitors in tests of physical and mental endurance. Then Alexander took on another challenge: living in the sports spotlight in Boston, where, in addition to making broadcast and independent-film appearances, she dated Shaquille O’Neal. Here are Nicole “Hoopz” Alexander’s Boston celebrity secrets:

1

Living out in Sudbury, we’ve been fortunate enough to be close to the Coach Grill in Wayland. It’s my favorite place to eat!

2

My favorite bar? I’m a country music fan. … I lived in Tennessee for six years before moving up to Boston. I’m still looking for a great place to go out and hear some country music.

I literally shop at Target several times a week. I also go to Jorgo Salon on Newbury Street.

For our anniversary we went to Tangiereno in Charlestown. I loved the ambience and the belly-dancing. Also seeing Mary Poppins (my favorite) at the Opera House. It was so nice to do a meet-and-greet with the cast.

5

After games at the Garden, I usually go right home. I’m not a big fan of Boston traffic, or city drivers in general. But I do love Boston fans. They have true spirit!

I relax by getting in a good workout. Fitness has always been an important part of my life, and is my go-to for relieving stress. I’ve been boxing with a fantastic trainer at Equinox Fitness in the Back Bay. He’s helping me perfect my left hook.
