heap tacos are good tacos, especially when they’re also fresh. At Dorado, fresh fish, beans, meats, cheeses, and vegetables fill taco shells, Mexican cemas, and quesadillas for an experience reminiscent of the streets of Puebla, Mexico and for a price that’s not much higher. And for a place that might be known for its cheap fish tacos, authentic cemitas (Mexican sandwiches served on a toasted sesame-seed egg roll with black beans, chipotles en adobo, avocado, Oaxaca cheese, and cilantro with your choice of chicken, steak, chorizo, vegetables, or rice and beans), and other Mexican specialties (try the elote, or Mexican-style grilled sweet corn), the secret is in Dorado’s weekend brunch, a spin on Mexican you can’t find everywhere in Boston. Another secret? Wednesday is fish taco night. Go after 2 p.m. and you’ll find fish tacos for cheaper than usual. Which is already really, really cheap. Tebsherany
Coolidge Corner remained rural until the late 1880s, when Beacon Street was widened and trolley service began there and on Harvard Street (long since discontinued), and retail and apartment buildings began to go up. The two tile-roofed trolley shelters on Beacon Street were built in 1901.
