A
hip, urban boutique with trendy and original designer clothing, Uniform isn’t what you think. It’s for men. And you can probably afford it. The shop gives guys an alternative to looking like they spent a weekend at the mall, but for not much more coin than if they had—a rarity in Boston men’s stores. Proprietor Gary Ritacco stocks the place like it’s his own closet, and incorporates suggestions from his style-conscious South End regulars. You’ll find innovative pieces by Ben Sherman, Cheap Monday, Gola, Freitag, Diesel, and Original Penguin, plus shoes, sunglasses, cool hats, messenger bags, watches, wallets, graphic Ts, and product. And here’s another secret: Visit the blog for coupons and to get the inside scoop on sales. Modica
The subway tunnel that carries the Green Line once continued under Tremont Street to Shawmut Avenue in the South End. The branch was closed in 1901, but the tunnel—now sealed—still lies under Tremont Street.
