on’t be put off by the name, or the good-natured wisecracks from the regulars at the bar. Grumpy’s may look like a cheap industrial warehouse on the outside and your parents’ garage on the inside, but it has a lot going for it. First, there’s the live music, from rock to reggae, with ridiculously cheap covers. Then there’s the beer tap right at your table, where you can pour your own. There’s also pool and darts. What’s not to like? O’Brien

Grumpy’s is around the corner from the 1859 Falmouth birthplace of the poet Katherine Lee Bates, who wrote the words to the song “America the Beautiful.” We’re pretty sure she didn’t hang out there, though.
