L

etters to Cleo emerged from the Boston college rock scene with the hit “Here & Now” which reached number 10 on the Billboard modern-rock singles chart. The band produced a stack of LPs and performed songs featured on the soundtracks of films including The Craft, Jawbreaker, and 10 Things I Hate About You. Vocalist Kay Hanley, guitarist Greg McKenna (on left, above), drummer Stacy Jones, and Hanley’s husband and lead guitarist, Michael Eisenstein, broke up the group, but got to talking during a benefit concert at T.T. The Bear’s Place, and agreed to stage a short reunion tour. T.T. the Bear’s remains just one of McKenna’s local favorites. Here are some more. Moravek

1

T.T. the Bear’s Place in Cambridge, which is still the best place to catch up and coming bands in Boston

2

Late-night “cold tea” at Moon Villa in Chinatown

3

That the Pour House on Boylston Street was boot camp for many of Boston’s bartenders and waitresses, and home of Burger Mania on Saturday nights

4

Windy City in Dorchester, for some of the best buffalo wings in the country

5

Knowing which J.J. Foley’s is the bike messenger one and which is the politicians one

6

If you’re from Southie or Dorchester, you know how to answer when you are asked, “What parish are you from?”

7

On a hot summer day, there’s nothing like a cold beer and low tide at the Barking Crab.

8

The best place to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July: Nahant Beach. Not only do you get a good view of Boston’s, but you can also see the fireworks in Hull and Salem.
