Kitsch ‘n’ Curry

Thai food in a setting you have to see to believe

T

he décor in Dok Bua Thai Kitchen is as surreal as the food is good—especially the curry puffs and the crab rangoon, appetizers that, excuse the cliché, melt in your mouth. Scattered around the restaurant are miniature representations of food made of plastic, arranged under plastic covers. The walls? Look closely and you’ll see that they’re refrigerator cases pasted over with wallpaper, left over from when the place was a convenience store. It’s like some alternate universe full of leis and Elvis figurines. Plus, they serve bubble tea in mason jars. Oh, and it’s BYOB. Horton
