ucked far inside the huge 19th-century Victorian Harbor View Hotel & Resort is a true island escape: Henry’s, a cozy bar with great food, cold microbrews, and a view of Edgartown Harbor and the Edgartown Lighthouse. There’s an all-day menu of sampler-size “small plates,” sandwiches, and cheeses (try the truffled fries with parmesan, the lobster roll with fried capers and remoulade, and the house-made pickles) and fanciful desserts, including right-out-of-the-oven tollhouse cookies that were one of the few things the owners were smart enough to save when the hotel underwent a $100 million renovation.

The Vincent House at Main and Church streets in Edgartown is the oldest home on Martha’s Vineyard, built in 1672, occupied by the same family, the Vincents, for 300 years, and now open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from early May through Columbus Day. Various generations of Vincents raised as many as 11 children at a time in the house’s three rooms and attic.
