ou might not expect to find an Irish pub smack in the middle of a suburban commercial drag, but Tommy Doyle’s has carved out a niche for itself between a couple of hardware and clothing shops by hosting live music and serving up traditional Irish food. Run by Finbar Griffin, a transplant from Dublin who ran the former Farragut House in Southie (and operates a second Tommy Doyle’s in Kendall Square), this joint hasn’t been around long enough to be rustic, exactly, but it does have the obligatory Guinness posters and flat-screen TVs and friendly bartenders who are always ready with good Irish stout. Tommy Doyle’s is named for one of the most famous Gaelic footballers who ever played, the winner of seven All-Ireland championship medals, three all-star awards, and many other honors.
