- CAPE COD
- MARTHA’S VINEYARD
t’s a mile from the ocean—on an island!—yet the in-the-know crowd has discovered that Lambert’s Cove Inn is one of the most romantic and impeccably decorated places to stay on Martha’s Vineyard, thanks to the former event planners that took it over and impeccably restored it. The 1820 farmhouse is accessorized with antiques, ceramic pots, and gold-framed prints, but that doesn’t make it old fashioned. Kids are discouraged, and there’s a kidney-shaped pool area in the back that’s a Vineyard oasis, with a quiet patio, hot tub, grassy lawn, and huge gazebo. And that beach a mile away? It’s private, for guests of the inn only.
Vineyard Haven fills in for “Amity Island” in the movie Jaws, which opens with a scene of the Steamship Authority ferry Naushon unloading summer visitors.
