Food events to take you through the foliage season

ith fall comes a harvest of new food news, so here we bring you some of the tastiest of it, starting with, well, dessert. Haley House, which helps former prison inmates learn culinary trades while also serving up delicious food, will hold its Sweeter Life dessert fundraiser October 19 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Haley House Bakery Café, 12 Dade St., in Dudley Square, Roxbury, preceded by a meet-and-greet with the city’s top pastry chefs at 2, including Lee Napoli of Chocolee Chocolates (above).

On Sunday (October 12), Salvatore’s Restaurant in the Seaport teams up with Harpoon Brewery to host “Tailgate 2014,” with food and drink during the Pats-Bills game, including buffalo wings, fried buffalo chicken sandwiches, buffalo calzones, and Salvatore’s Secret Chilli
Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar has opened in Davis Square in the former Rosebud Diner, with a menu of comfort food in a casual diner atmosphere, plus 18 beers on tap and throwback canned beers.

Food truck Mother Juice has been transformed into a brick-and-mortar spot at 625 West Kendall in Kendall Square, with organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and raw vegan snacks.

Next week is Cape Cod Restaurant Week, with three- or four-course fixed-price menus at $25, $30, or $35 per person. To find out which places are participating, click here.

Privateer Rum in Ipswich has opened its distillery for tours that end with tastings of Privateer’s Silver Reserve and True American Amber rums. Tours are Fridays and Saturdays by appointment and cost $25 per person. Find more information here.

And the yogurt shop 16 Handles in Brookline has debuted its Pumpkin & Fall Cinnamon Donut frozen yogurt flavors, just in time for fall.
