ar off the beaten track, Mr. Dooley’s Boston Tavern seems to have been plucked from Ireland and tucked into a little-trafficked side street in the Financial District. And the locals like it that way. The food’s pretty good—try the Ted Kennedy, a Black Angus burger with barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, and coleslaw. Then come back the next morning for a tasty, traditional Irish breakfast, or stop in on a Tuesday to wet your whistle with a whiskey and a Johnny Cash cover band. There are also outposts in Wrentham and Cohasset.
Mr. Dooley was a pseudonym used beginning in 1898 by political commentator Finley Peter Dunne.
