ew Yorkers and Bostonians may not agree on baseball (or football or hockey or basketball), but they can agree on the greasy perfection that is a New York pizza. That perfect slice with cheese that isn’t burnt, a crust that doesn’t taste like cardboard, and sauce that’s neither over-applied nor over-salted. And there is one out-of-they-way place in Boston that gets expatriate New Yorkers’ stamp of perfection: the helpfully named New York Pizza. This pizza joint doesn’t look particularly special—big windows looking onto white Formica tables—but even on weeknights the tables are filled with Bostonians satisfying their pizza cravings alongside nostalgic New Yorkers. And it serves till 1 a.m. Horton

Boston was America’s dominant port for nearly a century after independence, thanks to its proximity to Europe and, later, its dominance in manufacturing. New York outpaced it with the completion of the Erie Canal and immigration-driven population growth. But, seriously, no one likes the Yankees.
