The well-stocked archive of DVDs, VHS tapes (a reminder that hip hop has been around since the 1970s), magazines, and books are on display and open to the public. The Hip-Hop Archive is housed at Harvard’s W.E.B. DuBois Institute, named for the first black to earn a doctorate at the university, NAACP cofounder W.E.B. DuBois. While at Harvard, DuBois, who was born in Great Barrington, lived at 20 Flagg St.
