"Underground" sushi with fresh takes on old favorites

ven though it sits along a bustling strip of Boylston Street, Samurai falls just below the line of sight, in the basement level—which may be why this sushi restaurant always has an open table for the perceptive passerby. But it’s well worth finding for its fresh takes on old favorites. In addition to classic Japanese and Korean dishes, Samurai has a huge menu of special items like Big Papi maki and Celtic maki. (It’s also open late.) Top off your meal with the funky texture of green tea mochi ice cream. Rineman

The Japanese dessert mochi is ice cream in a dough-like rice shell.
