Roxbury was one of the first towns in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, founded in 1630, when it included present-day Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, West Roxbury, the South End, and most of the Back Bay. But “Roxbury Crossing” is a made-up place that refers to the intersection of Tremont Street and Columbus Avenue.
