An ice-cream shop that brings town and gown together

raditional antagonists, college students and the full-time residents who live around at least one local campus do have one thing they agree on: White Mountain Creamery. The little ice-cream shop tucked among a handful of storefronts near Boston College has that nostalgia that pretty much appeals to everybody. The signs reading “homemade” are no exaggeration. Owner Peter Coufos designs and churns his own flavors using fresh New England cream and other regional ingredients that change with the seasons. The hidden treasure here is the apple pie ice cream with cinnamon and chunks of fresh apple mixed right in. With its hand-drawn menus, stacks of board games, and quirky décor, White Mountain Creamery is the cheery kind of place that ice-cream lovers crave. Enos
