eeing the 450,000 world-class works in the Museum of Fine Arts is all that much more satisfying when it's free. The museum is free Shhhh! Most public libraries, including the Boston Public Library, also have free passes for the MFA, available on a first-come, first-served basis. on Wednesday nights from 4 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., and always free for students from the MFA's 47 member universities and colleges, including most schools in and around Boston, and there's a free College Night each September with concerts, food, activities, prizes, and art. The museum waives admission for an evening in late April for Art in Bloom, on Memorial Day, and in the fall, and offers free events, including Drawing in the Galleries from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, with live models and objects from the collections to draw under the supervision of experts. Here's one more money-saving secret: Every summer, the MFA hosts a series of concerts in its courtyard with indie-rock and world-music acts. There's an admission charge, but if you book a table on the terrace at the MFA’s Bravo restaurant, which overlooks the courtyard, you can watch for free. Hamedy
