But we should love that dirty water. Here are six secrets of the Charles:

1

Rowing for the rest of us

2

A social workout on the river

3

A little-known escape along the Charles

4

A running route with flora, fauna, and great views

5

A humble homage to a vanished neighborhood

6

Romantic summertime gondola rides on the Charles

7

Keeping fit, with a paddle

8

An exotic way to get out on the river

9

Where to breathe hard while enjoying a breathtaking river view
