T
he Plough and Stars is a good place to hang out any night for comfort food and live music (bluegrass, rock, or blues, every night) in a cozy, candlelit pub. But some of the best stuff is a secret, except to the regulars, and served up only twice a week. On Wednesdays enjoy Watch Hill oysters and on Sunday co-owner Brendan Fritus pulls out some old southern recipes with his own peppery kick for a chicken and fish fry, with a side of live bluegrass. Sit beneath the plough and let some of the Plough fries with Tabasco aioli light up the stars in your eyes.
The Plough constellation was the symbol of the Irish Citizen Army during the 1916 Easter Rising, representing the rebellion’s goal that a free Ireland control its own destiny, from the plough to the stars.
