Where to see baseball without leaving the Vineyard

f you’re looking to experience a little of America’s pastime without having to leave the island to see it, you’ll find a perfect solution in the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. Featuring some of the best college baseball players from around the country, the Sharks combine the fun of minor-league baseball with the atmosphere of your local high school team. And even if your kids would rather eat dirt than watch baseball, there’s plenty of entertainment in the form of water-balloon tosses, sack races, and hot dog-eating contests between innings. The biggest secret? The price. About 10 bucks gets you a ticket, a hot dog and a drink, something that hasn’t happened at Fenway since the Pesky Pole was just an upright rod in right field. Skidmore

The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks are part of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, which started in 2011 with four teams and was created, in part, by the Lowell Spinners Red Sox minor-league team and the people who run the Brockton Rox of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
