n a quiet street near Sacramento Field, there is one building that stands out from the rest. Painted in shades of peach, red, and blue, with an artist’s palette weathervane on the roof, Maud Morgan Arts inspires creativity. Named after the artist Maud Morgan (1903-99), the arts center offers classes and workshops for all ages, from children as young as 14 months to retirees, and studio space for independent artists. Small exhibitions are shown in the Chandler Gallery, with original work by Maud Morgan displayed along the staircase and upstairs. O’Brien
Also in recognition of Maud Morgan is the $10,000 Maud Morgan Prize, established in 1993 by the Museum of Fine Arts and given to a Massachusetts woman artist who has worked at least 10 years in her field.
