The Art of the Meal

A picturesque restaurant inspired by an artist

t’s often the hardest goals to reach that are the most rewarding. So it is with Dali, which is not as much in Harvard Square or Inman Square (or any other conveniently located retail district, for that matter) as near them. Nor is there much parking (the on-street parking is mostly for residents only). But the pato braseado is worth the 15-minute walk or five-minute cab ride from either square. Savory roast duckling combined with a sweet blackberry sauce, it’s like dinner with a hint of dessert—all on the same plate. All of Dali’s tapas selection is unique and distinctive, as is its décor—eclectic art clutters the walls, contrasting with the simplicity of the candlelit tables. Indulge in a pitcher of sangria—this restaurant’s sangrias have achieved the perfect balance of sweetness. Dali sits just out of reach of much public transportation, but the perfect dinner and drink combo make the trip worthwhile. Rineman

Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts has eight works by Salvador Dali, though none is usually on view. Harvard’s Fogg Museum of Art has one.
