Art Mart

A sale of art that's bound to appreciate in value

InsideOut1

S

avvy art collectors know they can pick up great stuff for a steal once a year at a little-known sale of work by future stars of the art world. It’s the Museum School Art Sale at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, held each year during one designated weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas, with thousands of pieces from paintings to handmade jewelry and new media by students, faculty, alumni, and internationally known affiliated artists. Admission is free, and proceeds support scholarships at the art school, one of the best in the country (of course), and one of only three affiliated with a major museum. But there are other secrets: Find a deal in the “shrinkwrapped” bins of unframed prints and paintings and get a discount for framing at Stanhope Framers. And join the school’s Medici Group to get a sneak preview before the sale opens to the public. Araki
